Hair extensions. We finally got ’em!
This past weekend The Studio became the first salon in Mississippi to become certified in Vomor Hair Extensions, making four of our stylists— Kasha Hughes, Coy Scott, Anna Broome, and Marcus Morton—- the first four professionals in the state to be trained and certified.
Vomor Hair Extensions are the only extensions backed by Aveda. The real human hair is sourced from Asia and color-treated with Aveda color in a wide array of natural shades and tones to provide more of a guaranteed match. The colors can also be mixed and customized for highlighted, two-toned, or ombre’ effects.

The method used is a tape-in that lasts from 6 to 8 weeks. After the initial application, the extensions can be re-used up to 2 more times before it’s time to buy new hair. Appointments for removal, reconditioning, and readjustments must be pre-booked for 6 to 8 weeks after applications, and it is recommended that guests who also receive hair color regularly to book their color service at that time. The color service will be performed in between removal and readjustment.
Due to the time it takes to remove the extensions taking care not to rip the guest’s actual hair, to replace the glue on the strips, and to re-install them, hair extensions are not an “in and out” service. Clients should prepare for a lengthy salon visit.Vomor extensions are excellent for added length or just added volume…. or both! The average person will need 3 to 4 boxes for adding length, and 2 to 3 boxes for simply adding volume.
The initial application process involves an extensive detox shampoo and smooth blowout before installing the hair extensions. Depending on how many boxes are used, the service can last anywhere from 1 to 3 hours.
After the service, the client should not shampoo for 48 hours. No alcohol or oil-based products should be used to prevent the glue on the strips from dissolving. For the first 3 shampoos after getting the hair extensions installed, the strips need to be “zipped” to get out any air bubbles and to keep moisture out.
Clients MUST blow dry every time the hair gets wet to extend the life of the extensions. Conditioner can be applied midshaft to ends, but not on the scalp where the strips are placed. Since it is real human hair, the extensions can be styled as normal with a blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron using medium temperatures.
For hair extensions clients, Vomor recommends Aveda Color Conserve Shampoo and Conditioner, Pure Abundance Styling Prep, Volumizing Tonic, Air Control, Daily Hair Repair, and Vomor loop brush (on dry hair) and wide tooth comb (on wet hair).
A $50 consultation is required for any guests interested in receiving extensions to determine whether they are right for the individual and discuss pricing. The $50 will be put toward the service.
