Hello… It is I, the one who writes.
My name is Leighanne Lockhart, and I have been with The Studio since January 7, 2014. I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to grow as a new stylist here and put my writing, editing, & interviewing skills to use.
Here’s my story in a nutshell:
•Hometown: Mandeville, LA— Attended Fontainebleau High School
•Attended USM in Hattiesburg from 2008-2012, graduated with a bachelor’s in journalism & public relations
•Attended my mother’s beauty school, A’Jour Academy of Beauty in Mandeville, on and off from 2009-2013, finally graduated in cosmetology in Nov. 2013
•From Aug. 2012 to July 2013, I worked as a staff writer/reporter for Sun Herald newspaper in Biloxi, MS.
•Jan. 2014, I was hired at The Studio Aveda salon in Hattiesburg.
I walked into The Studio one day in Dec. 2013 on a whim just to leave my resume. I was lucky enough to be able to sit down with owner Lisa Cochran that day, hear about her company and vision, and tell her a little about myself. I now know that wasn’t just a whim, but a God thing. I never expected to find a salon where everyone works together and encourages each other, where you can feel stable and secure financially first starting out in this industry, where you can receive benefits and regular training, and your boss truly cares about investing in and growing her employees individually. Again, definitely a God thing.
My skills include hair cutting, coloring, highlighting, styling, facial waxing, & makeup. I love it all but am especially fascinated with cutting. I recently had the amazing opportunity to travel to New York in June for an advanced hair cutting class with my talented mother, Daneen Lockhart, who has been my strongest source of inspiration and support my entire life alongside my dad, Shawn Lockhart. My dad passed away on Dec. 30, 2013, but his love continues to motivate me.
I love being able to show people how beautiful they are just by enhancing their natural features and giving them a look that is best for them personally. There is no better feeling in the world than being able to pour your love and creativity into a person like that.
In addition to hair, I also am regularly blogging and editing the website for The Studio. It’s a nice change of pace during the work week that I am thankful for. Any feedback and suggestions from readers is always appreciated! Let me know what you want to see on here, and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
My other interests and involvements include church ministry, Bible knowledge & application, fitness & nutrition, dance, and the art of minimalism. I adore simplicity.
I recently became engaged on Aug. 8, 2014 and will be married May 2, 2015. My fiance Kieren Rouse, has also been one of my biggest God-sends, and I cannot wait to begin our life and ministry together as one. I am blessed to be able to share this exciting time with The Studio family.
Bottom line, I pray that all I have done, all I am doing, and all I will do will all be used for the glory of God, and that I will continue to give all credit for my successes to the one who has redeemed me— Jesus Christ, because apart from Him, I am nothing.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
“He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” John 3:30
