Aveda improves lives with holiday gifts that give back

By Leighanne Lockhart/ The Studio,

One of the things we love about Aveda is its innovative efforts to both protect and give back to the world through the company. If you haven’t heard the story behind the paper Aveda uses to wrap the gift sets, then you need to promptly watch the video above. When you purchase one of the Aveda holiday gift sets, you are not only giving something unique and lovely to a loved one, but you are also helping Aveda to employ thousands of people in Nepal through the art of papermaking.

The papermakers in Nepal make sustainably sourced lokta bark paper. After four years of Aveda buying this paper for the holiday gift sets, the company now employs nearly 4,000 people in Nepal, giving almost 1,000 families the means to have food and clothing, fix leaky roofs, send children to school, and keep fathers from having to leave home to find work. Women make up 80 percent of this workforce, giving them the ability to invest in their families and their communities, according to Aveda.

You can read more about Aveda fighting poverty with paper here.
